EuraAuditUK September Sunrise Walk

More than 200 people took part in the Sunrise Walk and early indications are that we helped raise £15,000 for Saint Michael’s. We’re sponsoring it again next year and we would love your support again!

People walked in memory of loved ones, to show their support for Saint Michael’s and to have fun in Ripon’s idyllic setting.
Participants met at 5:30am at Sawley Village Hall on Sunday morning to register, mingle with their follow walkers and warm-up for the event with some zumba from local instructor, Kathy Hodgson.
The walkers then headed in the direction of Ripon Cathedral at 6:30am just minutes before the sun started to peak over the horizon.
Saint Michael’s chief executive, Tony Collins, said: “A huge thank you goes to everyone who contributed to making the Sunrise Walk such a special occasion - It has to be one of the most scenic, picturesque walks anywhere in the world. Seeing more than 200 people set off walking in the small hours of a Sunday morning on behalf of Saint Michael’s is a truly inspirational sight.’’
The money raised will go towards care for people in our region who are living with terminal illness and bereavement. It costs £3.9m to maintain Saint Michael’s current levels of service to more than 2,400 patients and their families each year. More than 80 per cent of this amount is raised through gifts left in people’s wills, general donations and fundraising events such as the Sunrise Walk.

Supporters who weren’t able to participate in the event can still text their donations for the Sunrise Walk by sending the code SUNW11 and the donation amount to 70070. The donation will be received by Saint Michael’s in full and taxpayers can also add a further 25 per cent in Government-funded Gift Aid.
